NEW BREAKTHROUGHS HAVE BEEN MADE IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF RENEWABLE ENERGY, AND THE INSTALLED CAPACITY OF RENEWABLE ENERGY NATIONWIDE HAS HISTORICALLY EXCEEDED THAT OF COAL POWER.
According to the data of the National Energy Administration, energy consumption continued to grow in the first half of the year, and the total electricity consumption of the whole society was 4.3 trillion KWH, an increase of 5.0%. China's output of raw coal, crude oil and natural gas rose steadily, up 4.4%, 2.1% and 5.4% year-on-year, respectively. China's installed power generation capacity reached 2.71 billion kilowatts, up 10.8% year-on-year.
The transition to green and low-carbon energy continues to accelerate, and new breakthroughs have been made in the installed capacity of renewable energy. Data Bao statistics show that as of the first half of 2023, the installed capacity of renewable energy in the country exceeded 1.3 billion kilowatts, reaching 1.322 billion kilowatts, an increase of 18.2%, historically exceeding coal power, accounting for 48.8% of China's total installed capacity, of which, hydropower installed capacity of 418 million kilowatts, wind power installed capacity of 389 million kilowatts, photovoltaic power installed capacity of 470 million kilowatts. The installed capacity of biomass power generation is 43 million kilowatts.
With the rapid growth of the installed scale of renewable energy, the power system's demand for various regulatory resources has grown rapidly, new energy storage projects have accelerated, the installed scale has continued to increase rapidly, and the installed capacity of some provinces and regions has exceeded 1 million kilowatts.
