In the first half of 2023, the photovoltaic industry saw intense competition among the top players. JA Solar and LONGi Green Energy fiercely contended for the top two positions, with shipments differing by only 1-2GW. Both companies shipped over 20GW during the six-month period.

Ranked fourth was Trina Solar, with shipments amounting to 23-24GW, and ATESS took the fifth spot with 14GW of shipments.

The competition remained tight for the sixth to eighth positions, with Jolywood Solar, Zhongtai New Energy, and Tongwei Solar all shipping over 10GW each. Jolywood Solar recorded 11.5GW, Zhongtai New Energy shipped 11GW, and Tongwei Solar's shipments were around 10GW.

Chint Solar shipped 7.5-8GW, securing the ninth position, while Huaneng Photovoltaic took the tenth spot with shipments of 3.5-4GW. Additionally, XC Solar shipped 3.5GW, ranking 11th, and Shangde Power's shipments were around 2.5GW, placing them at 12th.

It's important to note that the shipment data mentioned for the first half of 2023 is based on third-party estimates and may differ slightly from the official data disclosed in the mid-year reports.

The traditional photovoltaic industry, represented by the F4 companies, maintained a relatively stable position. The battle between JA Solar and LONGi Green Energy, with the addition of TOPCon advanced cell technology, has intensified, with both companies leading the way in the first half of the year.

The competition for the third and fourth positions between JinkoSolar and Trina Solar has seen JinkoSolar taking the lead in the first half, driven by its significant investment in TOPCon technology. Whether this momentum will continue throughout the year remains to be seen.

Apart from the F4 companies, traditional industry giants such as ATESS, Zhongtai New Energy, and Jolywood Solar have engaged in fierce competition with emerging leaders like Tongwei Solar. According to disclosed shipment expectations from listed companies and financial institutions, ATESS, Zhongtai New Energy, Jolywood Solar, and Tongwei Solar are all expected to ship between 25-35GW in 2023, with a median estimate of 30GW.

It can be speculated that the competition for positions 5 to 8 will remain intense and thrilling until the end of 2023.
